Apple Struggles to Keep Pace With Foldable Demand Amid Screen Concerns

Apple recently posted record fourth quarter earnings that surpassed Wall Street expectations, but the financial victory has been accompanied by growing pains surrounding its newest hardware venture. In a recent conversation with Reuters, executive John Ternus spoke candidly about the challenges facing the iPhone Duo, admitting that the company is currently unable to predict when production will finally catch up with consumer appetite. Since pre orders vanished almost instantly upon launch in mid October, eager buyers have seen delivery estimates pushed back into late January.

While the official quarterly report did not reflect Duo sales due to the device launching after the September cutoff, investors remain focused on how these supply bottlenecks will impact future revenue forecasts. Ternus noted that while the manufacturing ramp is progressing well, the gap between available stock and customer demand remains significant. This uncertainty leaves many potential owners waiting weeks or months to get their hands on Apple’s first foray into foldable technology.

Beyond the logistics of availability, Ternus also touched upon reports of screen failures affecting some early adopters. Addressing concerns over displays cracking or malfunctioning, he clarified that such incidents are confined to a very small percentage of devices. The company is managing these defects through a replacement program, swapping faulty units for brand new models to ensure quality control as they scale production. Despite these hurdles, the high volume of interest suggests that market enthusiasm for the foldable form factor outweighs these initial teething problems.
